I just got The Slammer" and it was very good!. It's their House Roasted beef French Dip w/ melted Provolone cheese on a fresh roll with a side of au jus. The Minestrone soup is really good too, I will be having more later!

It's a bit of a mix. The breakfast sandwich (bacon egg and cheese on a croissant) was not that good. The croissant didn't taste that fresh and neither did the rest of it. I did have a corned beef reuben here though and that was truly delicious. Very moist, flavorful, chunk beef. Maybe this is more of a lunch spot than a breakfast spot?

I was a customer of the former business, Maya's, for years. They were very good. Whenever the change over to this Jail- themed deli happened, I'm not sure. First noticed a change in decor. Why in the world you would put bars on the windows is beyond me. I like looking out on Macomb street while eating up at the window stools. Not so nice with bars on the windows. They painted and got new chairs too. Menu is a bit different. My husband has the Reuben, and although it was different than it used to be, it was still good. I ordered the taco special. Apparently Chantal has good Mexican style beef since they boast about their "secret recipe" on the FB page. I also had the chicken tortilla soup. Neither were yummy. :( The beef was very, very greasy. They did not serve it with any salsa. I couldn't finish it for fear it may cause stomach pains later on from the grease. The taste was nothing special. Chicken tortilla soup was not really a soup. It was so watery and tasted like the fluid that is in canned corn. No chicken flavor. Sorry, but I will not be back. I don't like when I go out to eat (even to a deli/fast casual place) and pay for food that I could make way better at home. Say a little prayer for me that my intestines do not revolt too bad. Thanks. PS the second star is for the pickle. It was a half of a huge yummy dill pickle. Best thing I ate there.

I had a great lunch here today. I ordered the 1/2 sandwich with soup (chili) for $5.50. I washed it all down with a Faygo Cola. Great meal - I will return!

I ordered their Reuben and only got the half sandwich because with their prices I assumed it would be an enormous amount of corned beef. Um...nope. Then instead of finely sliced, mouth-watering corned beef, their Reuben is made from chunks of processed corned beef which tastes pretty bland. A couple of the other people I was with seemed to be relatively happy with what they ordered so I'm giving it 3-stars, but to be honest a 2.5 would be more appropriate. So in summary, their prices are pretty high for what you get and the quality is not very good.

I'm rating it on their Reuben alone. I've had them near and far. This ones pretty good. Someone mentioned processed corned beef??? Um I don't know what they're talking about. Yes the meat is cut into chunks but by no means is this a reflection on there melt in your mouth yumminess. Washed down w a faygo rock n rye.
